Every single day in Zimbabwe, millions of dollars vanish into the pockets of corrupt officials. This is not just bad leadership. This is organised theft. It is criminal. It is done openly by people who were elected to serve but now rule to steal. They have no shame. No compassion. No interest in the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans. Their only concern is money. While they feast, the people starve.
A perfect example is the recent decision by the Ministry of Tourism to move the Sanganai Hlanganani Tourism Expo from Bulawayo to Mutare. Bulawayo has hosted the expo for years. It has the infrastructure. It has the experience. It is efficient. But that does not matter to ZANU PF ministers. What matters to them is who gets the tenders. Who gets the supply contracts. Who benefits from inflated invoices. Mutare is not ready for this expo. But the greed of a few powerful individuals made sure the event was moved. This one reckless decision has now doubled the cost. What should have cost five hundred thousand dollars will now cost millions. Not for the benefit of tourism. Not to help the country. But simply to feed the corrupt machinery of ZANU PF.
And this is just one example. Pick any ministry. You will find rot. In health, ambulances were bought for triple the actual price. In education, schools are falling apart yet budgets are signed off every year. In transport, roads are paid for but never built. In ICT, computers were supplied at prices higher than vehicles. These are not accidents. These are deliberate moves by government officials who know nothing will happen to them. They steal today. They steal tomorrow. They steal again next year. No one is arrested. No one is punished. No one is even asked to explain.
ZANU PF has turned public service into a private business empire. Ministers are not there to serve. They are there to enrich themselves. Every government project is seen as an opportunity to loot. Every policy is twisted to create a gap for corruption. Every dollar in the budget is seen as a personal fund. Meanwhile the country is falling apart. Hospitals are collapsing. Clinics have no medicine. Children are learning under trees. Teachers are poorly paid. Pensioners die without dignity. But those in power drive expensive cars. They live in mansions. Their children go to private schools abroad. They fly out for treatment while the rest of us die in overcrowded public hospitals.
This is not just about politics. It is about survival. Every dollar stolen is a dollar that could have changed someone’s life. Every corrupt deal is a missed chance to develop Zimbabwe. Corruption is not just an inconvenience. It is a cancer that is killing our country.
And they do it without shame. They know the people are suffering. They know the country is on its knees. But they continue to loot. They blame sanctions. They blame the opposition. They blame everyone except themselves. Sanctions did not move the tourism expo to Mutare. Sanctions did not buy overpriced ambulances. Sanctions did not eat the road construction money. That is the work of ZANU PF. That is the face of greed. That is the truth.
We must wake up. Zimbabwe will not be fixed by the same people who destroyed it. We need new leaders. Leaders who care. Leaders who are honest. Leaders who know that power is not for plundering. Power is for service.
Every day we stay silent, ZANU PF steals another million. Every day we look away, they steal more from our future. We cannot afford more silence. We cannot afford more fear. The time to speak is now. The time to rise is now. Zimbabwe is bleeding. And ZANU PF is holding the knife.
