Zimbabwe is in trouble again. The ruling Zanu PF party is tearing itself apart. At the centre of this chaos is a brutal fight for power between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. The infighting is making the country unstable and opening old wounds. But one man is making things even worse for the President. His name is Blessed Geza. He is a war veteran and a former member of Zanu PF’s central committee. Geza is now demanding that Mnangagwa step down immediately.

Geza is angry because Mnangagwa wants to extend his rule beyond the legal limit. The President’s second term ends in 2028 but he is pushing to extend it to 2030. Many people believe this is just a cover and that Mnangagwa is planning for a third term. While the President denies it publicly, his supporters are already pushing for the extension. It is clear they are acting on his instructions. Geza is not buying it. He has called this move a clear sign of dictatorship.

He is not alone. Many war veterans are standing with Geza. They say Mnangagwa has betrayed the revolution. Geza even threatened Mnangagwa directly, giving him ten days to resign or face serious consequences. Although he later denied the threat, his message has not changed. He is determined to remove Mnangagwa from power and has promised what he calls a final push. This is a direct reference to the strategy used by the late Morgan Tsvangirai when he challenged former President Robert Mugabe. It is ironic that the very people who helped remove Mugabe in 2017 are now fighting each other like wild animals in a collapsing house.

Zanu PF has expelled Geza for his actions. But the move has not silenced him or his followers. The war veterans backing him are furious. They accuse Mnangagwa of being a coward during the liberation struggle. They say he was trained but never fought. Instead of being on the front lines he was living in Zambia while others risked their lives. Now they believe he is destroying everything they fought for.

Geza has become the voice of many angry Zimbabweans. He says he is fighting not just for one faction but for the entire country. However the truth is many Zimbabweans are tired. They have seen this movie before. When Mnangagwa removed Mugabe he promised change. Instead he brought more pain. He continued the same brutal policies of arresting opposition leaders, silencing journalists, and protecting corrupt allies. Many fear that if Chiwenga replaces him nothing will change.

Mnangagwa has been in politics for decades. He was Mugabe’s right hand man and played a major role in the Gukurahundi massacres of the 1980s. Thousands were killed in the Midlands and Matabeleland regions and he has never answered for those crimes. Now he rules with the same iron fist. His government is accused of nepotism, corruption, and looting public funds. Even the international community has responded. In 2020 the United States imposed sanctions on Mnangagwa and his inner circle. Britain has also placed its own restrictions on his regime.

Today Mnangagwa is facing his biggest threat since taking power. The people no longer support him. The army is watching him closely. And his own party is starting to turn against him. The same people who helped him in 2017 are now plotting to remove him. If they succeed Zimbabwe could witness another coup. The country is already suffering from poverty and inflation. This power struggle is making everything worse. Ordinary people are not part of this fight. They just want peace food and jobs. But their leaders are too busy chasing power. The next few months will decide Zimbabwe’s future.
